ArcGIS for Windows Mobile and Windows Tablet is fully integrated with the ArcGIS system. This application support organization delivers Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities and data from centralized servers to a range of mobile devices. ArcGIS for Windows Mobile includes a ready-to-run mobile application, as well as a Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows programmers to create custom applications.

Enhancements to Mobile Project Center

As a project administrator, user can:

  • Add operational map data from feature services hosted on ArcGIS Online for organizations.
  • Add multi-stop routing capability to your mobile project, which allows field workers while disconnected, to route to selected destinations.
Enhancements to the ArcGIS application for Windows devices

As a field worker, user can:

  • Create multi-stop routes while disconnected with turn-by-turn directions.
  • Create new features using a simplified workflow that streamlines repetitive tasks.
  • Update the geometries of existing features, included geometry editing capabilities are extend, replace a portion, delete a portion and re-collect.
  • View Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) /Global Positioning System (GPS) information on a map view.
  • Set a coordinate system format to use across the application.
Enhancements to ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Windows Mobile

User can:

  • Use the feature service API to synchronize data through hosted feature services on ArcGIS Online for organizations.

Application Development

ArcGIS for Windows Mobile consists of the application and the ArcGIS Runtime SDK. The user develops with the SDK inside Visual Studio and then packages the SDK with each custom application deployment. The SDK is a set of dynamic linked libraries that need to exist on the Windows device to ensure the custom application will operate correctly. The user is licensed based on the deployment of each runtime.[3]

ArcGIS for Windows Mobile includes a software development kit (SDK) that lets developers use the tools to create lightweight GIS-focused applications customized to users' needs.[4]
