GeoBase is a geospatial platform developed by Telogis. As Telogis was founded as a GPS tracking company, a particular focus was placed on high-transaction spatial rule processing for GPS coordinates reported by remote assets. Millions of such transactions per day are common on even modest systems.

A geospatial platform is a geographic information system (GIS) that is targeted for a specific use and is generally integrated into application software.

Core spatial functions

GeoBase also provides the core functionality common in street-mapping applications. These functions include:

  • Street Mapping
  • Reverse Geocoding
  • Address Lookup (geocoding)
  • Driving Directions
  • Route Optimization

Spatial Analysis functions

GeoBase contains a spatial database structure that allows application to run spatial queries on both the underlying street data and dynamic data- such as vehicle location- that is added by the application.

Such a query would include: "Find all gas stations within 10 mi of vehicle xx"

Deployment models

GeoBase has developments for deployment in client server, ASP and AJAX applications.

Newer versions of GeoBase include a technology called GeoStream. GeoStream enabled thin client applications (AJAX, .NET) to pull spatial data and functions off a central server while maintaining the performance of a thick-client application.
