Brunton, Inc.
Brunton, Inc. is a manufacturer of technical gear for outdoor activity located in Riverton, Wyoming. Brunton is well known for innovation in the categories of recreational compasses and navigation gear, binoculars, backpacking equipment, family camping equipment, headlamps, solar panels for portable power, and surveying instruments including the Brunton Pocket Transit, a measuring tool used by geologists and archaeologists and often known simply as "the Brunton."
In 1996, the company was acquired by Silva Production AB of The Silva Group, headquartered in Sweden.
In 2006, Brunton's parent company, The Silva Group of Sweden, was in turn acquired by the Finnish Fiskars Corporation.[1] Brunton, Inc. continues as a component of The Silva Group of Sweden, now controlled by the Outdoor division of Fiskars, which also includes Gerber Legendary Blades.[2]
